DAY OF RESPITE FOR CAREGIVERS
Friday, December 5th, 2008 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Caregivers of their family members or others need to be “cared for” themselves. We offer a day for
you to come and be refreshed and renewed in body, spirit and heart. Options for you on this day will be for massage, foot reflexology, good nourishing food, prayer, relaxation and sharing. Take advantage of any of the offerings or just come and find your own rest. |

ADVENT 24-HOUR RETREAT “BEHOLD THE GIFT”

This retreat will provide time to pause and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. In a sacred space here at Stella Maris you may participate in prayer, faith-sharing and renewing the Gifts of Self, Others and God in the unfolding mystery of the Incarnation; “God-with-us” here and now!
Facilitated by Sister Kathleen Clary, SSJ and Sister Rose Raymond Wagner, OSF. Arrival Friday afternoon (6:00 dinner)

Epiphany Retreat
“Celebrating Our Giftedness”

As we recall the “Feast of the Magi” as well as the beginning of a New Year, we take 24 hours to remember God’s gifts to us in the past and to look to the future.

Silent Directed 24 hr Retreat
January 9-10, 2009
Do you need some “quiet, downtime” after the holidays? Have you ever considered making
an individual directed retreat? The Spiritual Renewal Center is sponsoring a
silent retreat during which each retreatant will be assigned a director with whom you will
meet and will make suggestions for your prayer and schedule times for
you to discuss your prayer experience.

Alternatives to Violence Program
Friday-Saturday; March 20-21, 2009 (5:00 pm to 5:00 pm)
This twenty-four hour workshop will be presented by the Sister Karen Klimczak Center for Nonviolence and will focus on ways to carry out Sister Karen’s vision of a world without violence, to eliminate violence in ourselves, our society and in our world. Despite the violence visited on Sister Karen leading to her death, her belief was that nonviolence is the future of our world. This workshop is facilitated by trained volunteers who believe in the essential goodness in every person. They will suggest exercises designed to build a sense of community, to enhance self respect and respect for others and will challenge us to think about issues related to conflict and peaceful solutions.

“Poetry: A Spiritual Tool For Transformation"

Poetry is a wonderful way to hear the inner voice of God through words and images. Poets open our hearts and souls to a greater awareness of being in communion and grace with our reality. Using the poetry of Mary Oliver, David Whyte, Denise Levertov and others, Sister Mary Ellen Curtin, CSJ, will help us to open ourselves to a deeper awareness of the sacred in our lives. Bring a journal and a favorite poem.

"Becoming Acquainted with the Mystics"
Come for a walk with six well known mystics who will speak to your heart. Their writings and prayer life may lead you to a greater depth in your own spiritual journey. During these six weeks we will be visited by Saints Francis, Clare, Bonaventure, Angela of Foligno, Meister Eckert and Julian of Norwich. There will be something for everyone in these weeks of conversation with these spiritual guides. Sessions will be presented by Sr. Kathleen Osbelt, OSF, founder of Francis House, spiritual director and retreat leader.
